KLM introduces new World Business Class seats

KLM is replacing the World Business Class seats on its Boeing 777s with new Business Class seats with sliding doors. With more comfort, privacy and various improvements, these new seats leave little to be desired.

KLM had the updated World Business Class seats designed based on customer research. The new seats offer passengers plenty of space and comfort:

  • All passengers have direct aisle access. Each seat has a lightweight sliding door, which is easy to open and close. This allows the seat to be closed for more privacy while working, relaxing and/or sleeping.
  • More personal adjustment options and convenient features, including adjustable lower back support and a relaxation mode with subtle back massage.
  • The chair is adjustable to a comfortable two-meter (198 cm) bed.
  • There are several charging options for equipment in a convenient location within sight of the passenger. There is also the option of wireless charging.
  • There is also a lockable locker with additional storage and a built-in mirror. The seat offers a recessed bottle holder to safely “table” a bottle of water even during possible turbulence.

Other World Business Class services, such as the catering concept and SkyPriority, for example, remain unchanged.

For the new World Business Class, KLM chose the Jamco Venture seat in a 1-2-1 arrangement, that is, with direct aisle access for each passenger. The Jamco Venture seat is already in use in World Business Class on Boeing 787 aircraft. Based on extensive customer research, KLM worked with the supplier to further improve the seat.
The entire design by JAMCO in cooperation with KLM, and in particular the personal cabin setup, is lighter overall than other World Business Class seats in the same segment, without sacrificing quality. Lighter seats contribute to KLM’s sustainability goals.

All Boeing 777 aircraft, both Boeing 777-300 and 777-200, will be fitted with the updated World Business Class seats. These aircraft will also be fitted with the latest cabin Premium Comfort. The conversion is expected to be completed in the summer of 2024.
